From awkward beginnings in 1994, stranded on the steps of the Paris Opera, not speaking a word of French, then returning to the City of Light many times over the years, Chicago photographer and writer Billy Sheahan tells the stories of his travel adventures and how he learned, Être à Paris, To Be in Paris and his love affair with a beautiful city. Part photography book, part Paris instruction manual, Être à Paris, describes Sheahan's evolution from a graceless underdressed American tourist to his becoming a true parisien bon vivant. Sheahan shares over 60 of his beautiful black & white and color photographs of Paris made during visits from 1994 through 2008. The 116 page book also includes the stories of how he learned to live in Paris nearly as a parisien rather than a visiting sightseer. |
